Sunwest Care Foundation, Inc. (SCFI) started its Coastal Clean-up Drive and Tree Planting Activities in different areas of Albay to promote awareness on different environmental issues and intensify its advocacy in Environmental Protection.
On March 2, 2019, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – PENRO Albay, Misibis, Bacacay Barangay Council, Misibis Women’s Livelihood Organization, and twenty (20) high school scholars of the Foundation participated in the Tree Planting Activity held in Cagraray Eco-Energy Park, Misibis, Bacacay, Albay.
In line with this advocacy program, Coastal Clean-up Drive was also held in Lamba, Legazpi City with members from Lamba Livelihood Organization, SCFI Scholars, and the Barangay Council of Lamba last March 23, 2019.
Ms. Gemina Quiros, SCFI Executive Director, said that one of SCFI’s goals is to improve the environmental awareness among communities.
“We are one with the Barangay Council in implementing a cleaner and greener community through collaborative efforts. It is important that we protect our Mother Nature for future generations. Preservation, conservation, and protection of the environment are vital for all livings to survive. Every step is big progress in helping the world be a better place.” Ms. Quiros said.
On the other hand, SCFI has conducted simultaneous monitoring for their recently planted 200 Narra Trees at Cagraray Eco-Energy Park, Misibis, Bacacay. SCFI has determined a caretaker, Mr. Darwin Bayle, who will oversee the growth of the planted seedlings and conduct maintenance works to ensure the survival of the trees.
“SCFI promotes a clean and green environment for a healthy living. Hence, tree planting activities are being launched together with the community for ownership. SCFI sustains the rehabilitation and this year, Barangay Misibis is the pilot area,” Ms. Quiros added.
